January 2021 Capitol Report Eyes Budget, Vaccine Rollout, Telehealth Proposals

Situation Report | February 1, 2021

HCA last week published the January 2021 edition of our Capitol Report newsletter, a monthly publication of news for state officials and legislators. We also share this newsletter with HCA members to reinforce our key messaging to elected officials on a range of issues.

In this month’s edition, we welcome new legislators to Albany following the recent elections, inviting them to see HCA as a resource for home and community care in New York.

We also give our take on the proposed state budget, the COVID-19 vaccine rollout for home care and hospice, and the Governor’s sweeping proposals for telehealth, urging state officials to “move boldly on telehealth, in principle, yet cautiously when it comes to safeguards for patient care quality and standards of care across practice settings that can easily overlap or become blurred in the context of virtual platforms like telehealth,” noting home care’s pioneering role in telehealth development.
