CMS Issues Compliance Fact Sheet on Enhancing RN Supervision of Hospice Aides

Situation Report | July 20, 2021

The U.S. Office of the Inspector General (OIG) recently issued a report which found that Registered Nurses (RNs) did not always visit hospice patients’ homes at least once every 14 days to assess the quality of care and services provided by hospice aides.

Due to this report, the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a Compliance Fact Sheet to help hospice providers document these enhanced RN supervisory visits as required by the regulations.
