CMS to Hold VBID Hospice Benefit Technical Support Series

Situation Report | October 26, 2020

The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will host a technical support webinar to provide an overview of the Hospice Benefit Component Technical and Operational Guidance under the Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) Model.

Also, CMS’s VBID Model team will begin hosting monthly office hours for interested stakeholders to learn more about the VBID Model’s Hospice Benefit Component.

The VBID Model allows Medicare Advantage organizations to further target benefit design to enrollees based on chronic condition and/or socioeconomic characteristics and/or incentivize the use of Part D prescription drug benefits through rewards and incentives, including the Medicare hospice benefit which has traditionally been carved-out of Medicare Advantage.

Interested HCA members can submit questions in advance by emailing the VBID Mailbox at VBID@cms.hhs.gov.

Additional information can be found on CMS’s VBID website or by contacting VBID@cms.hhs.gov.
