DOH Allows Separate LHCSA Registration Process

Situation Report | January 4, 2021

On December 30, the state Department of Health (DOH) announced that Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs) that have not submitted their 2019 LHCSA Statistical Report (which includes the required LHCSA registration form) can now submit a separate LHCSA Registration Short Form if they cannot submit the statistical report.

This action was taken in recognition of LHCSAs facing many new responsibilities, including a new cost report, the Electronic Visit Verification requirement, new wage parity forms, and more.

The 2018 state budget included a requirement that LHCSAs be registered and that those not registered cannot provide services or receive reimbursement for services. Unregistered LHCSAs can also face fines.

The Registration Short Form is on the Health Commerce System and instructions for accessing the form are in DOH’s announcement.
