DOH Releases Hospice Minimum Wage Survey

Situation Report | December 7, 2020

The state Department of Health (DOH) has posted a survey for hospices regarding the state’s minimum wage increase from January 1, 2021 through January 1, 2022.

The survey here is due December 18, 2020. Please also see the accompanying Dear Administrator Letter.

Note: the New York City region reached the statutory minimum wage of $15 per hour effective December 31, 2018 and forward; therefore, no minimum wage survey will be required for the region.

If your hospice is not impacted by the minimum wage increase for calendar years 2021 through 2022 or you choose to opt-out of the survey, you are still required to complete questions 1-4 and 6-7. DOH says that failure to complete this survey “may result in no additional reimbursement,” which we interpret as meaning no additional reimbursement for purposes of minimum wage support.  Chief Executive Officers/Chief Financial Officers will be required to attest to the validity of the information provided. All data will be reviewed for reasonableness and may be subject to audit.

Questions regarding the Minimum Wage Survey can be submitted to hospice-rates@health.ny.gov with the subject line Minimum Wage.
