Free, Easy, Quick, On-Demand and Necessary: COVID-19 Testing for Home Care

Q&As Coming This Week to Answer Key Procedural, Billing and Other Issues

Situation Report | June 15, 2020

“The number one thing we have to do in this state to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus is to increase testing” (Governor Cuomo, March 13 press briefing)

“If I were advising a friend, I would say: You have a vulnerable person. Best to keep them at home … keep them in a situation where you have the most control” (Governor Cuomo, May 27 interview on MSNBC)

HCA’s Home Care Clinician Training for COVID-19 Testing initiative is built on two key premises.

First, the state needs professionals trained and ready to test for COVID-19, including home care and hospice clinicians. Our entire public health response hinges on it.

Secondly, vulnerable New Yorkers are, in many cases, best suited to receive care at home during this pandemic, and the same goes for COVID-19 testing procedures in the home.

Please be sure that your nurses and respiratory therapists are ready to meet this call and this need. Enroll in HCA’s free, on-demand training program. Your organization can enroll as many clinicians as you’d like, quickly and easily, through our online Letter of Participation form.

Once enrolled, the course takes less than an hour to complete. It can be viewed by clinicians any time 24/7 through the distance learning platform hosted by our project partners at Iroquois Healthcare Alliance.

All the information you need is in our webinar; or sign up directly by completing the online Letter of Participation form above.

Every home care and hospice agency should take advantage of this offering, which gives you greater control over COVID-19 surveillance capabilities necessary to keep your patients, your staff and the public safe.

Q&As Coming Soon

HCA expects to issue a Q&A document this week answering questions directly raised by providers during our recent launch webinar as well as additional anticipated questions related to requirements, procedures, reimbursement, and more. Please be on the look out for these Q&As and consider them as you enroll in our training program.

This project is generously funded by a grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.
