ALBANY – The Home Care Association of New York State (HCA) has appointed two policy directors, Alyssa Lovelace and Lauren Ford, with experience in health policy research and association advocacy to further enhance HCA’s efforts in both areas.
“Alyssa Lovelace and Lauren Ford are two exceptional and experienced health care leaders who will help HCA advance our policy and advocacy functions in several critical areas,” said HCA President and CEO Al Cardillo.
Ms. Lovelace joined HCA in late November as the Director for Public Policy and Advocacy. She began her career with LeadingAge New York (then the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging) in 2008, and later worked for the New York State Association of Health Care Providers (HCP). She brings to HCA over ten years of experience working in long term care policy development and government relations.
She is primarily responsible for developing HCA’s grassroots advocacy activities in a manner consistent with the association’s state and federal budgetary and legislative agendas on behalf of HCA’s home care, hospice and Managed Long Term Care membership. In the coming months, she will be working closely with the membership to ensure the priorities of HCA’s members are regularly communicated to lawmakers and regulators.
Ms. Lovelace was selected as a recipient of City & State’s annual 40 Under 40 “Rising Stars” recognition earlier this year. She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and holds her bachelor’s degree in public policy with a concentration in public administration.
Ms. Ford joined HCA in early December as Director of Program Research, Development and Policy. She will be working to elevate the incorporation of data, evidence-based research and program outcomes in support of advocacy, service to HCA’s members, education, program development and policy. She will also be working directly to lead and/or co-lead an array of new and emerging HCA program areas.
Ms. Ford comes to HCA from her most recent position managing care coordination functions at a regional comprehensive clinical management program. She previously worked for seven years at Capital Region-based Living Resources, Inc., an HCA member organization that serves individuals with disabilities due to birth trauma, accident or illness. At Living Resources she most recently served as the Assistant Director of Residential Services.
Ms. Ford has a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the State University of New York at Albany where she was the honored recipient of the Stephanie Wacholder Endowed Scholarship and the Frank Filippone Hillside Scholarship in 2017 and 2018.
HCA is a statewide health organization comprised of nearly 400 member providers and organizations delivering home and community-based care to several hundred thousand New Yorkers annually. HCA works to support providers in the delivery of high quality, cost-effective home and community-based care for the state’s citizens. HCA providers include hospitals, nursing homes, free-standing agencies and health systems which operate Certified Home Health Agencies, Licensed Home Care Services Agencies, Managed Long Term Care Plans, Hospices, Long Term Home Health Care Programs, waiver programs, and an array of allied, supportive services entities.
