Dr. Anderson Torres is the President and CEO, PhD, LCSW-R, AWA of R.A.I.N. TOTAL CARE, INC. He has been involved in home care since 1998, when he first joined VNS Health (formerly VNSNY). Learn more about his distinguished career and his commitment to patients and the field here.
1) What led you into home care to start?
I applied to a job in the field of forensics and one at VNSNY at the time. I prayed and flipped a coin while holding my newborn son while at John Jay College of Criminal Justice waiting for my wife to come out of class. I chose VNSNY and I have enjoyed the ride in healthcare on the community end.
2) Describe a typical day as a home care leader.
A typical day may involve several visits to various locations/programs and industry related meetings through committees. There is a lot of troubleshooting that goes on while coaching staff and mentoring others.
3) What makes home care the right fit for you?
I have personal experience with family members in Home Care. It is important to be around others that put clients first and be able to impact quality work through commitment and purpose. It’s a great feeling when you feel you are truly making a difference and positive impact.
4) What has been the most rewarding part of your job/career?
Keeping ethical, seeing a smile on someone’s face, hearing a testimony from someone who has received care, and knowing that you have kept your word.
5) Why should prospective members join HCA?
