Medicaid Reimbursement for Vaccine Administration

The state Department of Health (DOH) has posted guidance on New York’s Medicaid reimbursement policy for the administration of COVID-19 vaccines authorized for emergency use and instructions for providers to bill the cost of administration of authorized COVID-19 vaccine.

This applies to both Medicaid fee-for-service and managed care.

While Medicaid will not reimburse for the cost of the vaccine, it can reimburse for the vaccine’s administration.

HCA Appointed to WNY Vaccine Hub Committee

HCA has been appointed to the Western New York (WNY) Hub Advisory Committee Health Equity Task Force.

The purpose of the Task Force is to advise the WNY Vaccination Hub Leadership in the development and implementation of a phased regional vaccination plan to ensure that COVID-19 vaccines are distributed and administered equitably, including to vulnerable and underserved persons.

The Task Force held its first meeting on January 8 and plans to initially meet weekly.

HCA has reached out to all of the vaccination hubs in ten regions of the state (also known as the Regional Advisory Task Force coalitions) and has been contacting members in various regions to learn about their experiences obtaining vaccines for their staff. Members should feel free to contact any HCA policy staff person if they need assistance.
