HCA, HCP, LeadingAge Press Conference Urges LHCSA RFO Repeal Bill

Situation Report | June 7, 2021

As previously reported (in last week’s Situation Report), the Home Care Association of New York State, New York State Association of Health Care Providers and LeadingAge New York joined forces in a June 1 press conference to urge passage of S.6640/A.7304, a bill to repeal the Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA) Request for Offers (RFO).

The press conference, on Zoom, was held on Monday afternoon, following the publication of our June 1 newsletter. A link to our multi-association press release is here.

The press conference was covered by Home Health Care News, Home Care Daily and WAER 88.3 in Syracuse. It was also attended by representatives of WRGB News Channel 6 (Capital Region), the Watertown Daily Times, WRVO public media in Central New York, and WIVB News Channel 4 (Buffalo).

The 2021 legislative session ends on June 11, and the associations are urging action on this bill to eliminate uncertainty, avoid disruption of services and maintain patient access to services. A repeal of the LHCSA RFO is among HCA’s highest priorities.

So far, HCA members have sent over 1,000 messages to their Senate and Assembly representatives on this bill using our Legislative Action Center. If you haven’t done so yet, now is the time to act. Join the campaign at our Legislative Action Center here. It takes less than a minute.
