NYSDOL Releases Grant RFA for Workforce Development Training (WDT) Programs

On May 3rd the NYS Department of Labor (NYSDOL) released two RFAs (Request for Applications) s for workforce development training programs. For-profit and private sector not-for profit entities with two (2) or more employees are eligible to apply for the one-year grants. The DOL has provided a helpful comparison chart to highlight the key elements of these two opportunities. HCA is exploring potential types of training initiatives that might be relevant for home care providers and would fit the goals of these initiatives and will share further information as it becomes available.

Workforce Development Training (WDT) Program Employee Retention and Advancement Training (ERAT)

The purpose of this Employee Retention and Advancement Training (ERAT) RFA is to provide occupational skills training, commensurate with regional priorities, to incumbent workers who are currently in low and middle-skills occupations, leading to job advancement and retention.

Workforce Development Training (WDT) Program Reemployment Training Grant (RTG)

The purpose of this Reemployment Training Grant (RTG) Program RFA is to secure the services of eligible organizations that can assist NYSDOL by providing occupational skills training commensurate with regional priorities to unemployed/underemployed individuals to qualify them for full-time or part-time employment or if currently employed, a higher level of employment.

Additional points in scoring will be given to programs that train unemployed/underemployed individuals in priority populations, which include but are not limited to: veterans, individuals with disabilities, currently or formerly incarcerated individuals, long-term unemployed, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance

Proposal Due Date: Ongoing, no later than August 2, 2024
