HCA is New York’s premier state home care association. Our official mission is “to promote and enhance the quality and accessibility of health care and support at home.”
Every day and in every region of the State, a continuum of care has been keeping vulnerable New Yorkers in their homes, out of overburdened hospitals and nursing facilities, saving valuable state and federal healthcare dollars in the process. Ranging from clinically complex, professional nursing and therapies to long-term support services for the chronically ill and aging, that care continuum is home healthcare.
The Home Care Association of New York State (HCANYS) is the State’s premier resource for anyone interested in the home healthcare ecosystem. Boasting policy and regulatory expertise, strategic legislative advocacy, research and innovation, education and training opportunities, individualized assistance, and more.
HCANYS was established in 1978 with a goal of further developing and advocating for the field of service delivery in the home, and providing information to help improve the development, availability, accessibility and quality of home care services.
For over 40 years, HCANYS has been a steadfast, trusted leader in this field, navigating New York’s home healthcare and hospice industry through systemic development and expansion, regulatory and statutory changes to structure and financing, evolving leadership at the state and federal level, and more— ensuring access to and delivery of quality, innovative care to patients throughout the State, our perennial North Star.
The HCANYS Difference
HCANYS is more than a trade association; it is a pioneering collective of industry stakeholders, thought leaders and change makers.
Representing hundreds of dedicated organizations and thousands of staff committed to the delivery of healthcare and support services in homes and communities across all regions of New York State, HCANYS brings unmatched insight and depth of knowledge to a complex and evolving landscape.
This healthcare sector has encountered several distinct periods of change in the last half century. As the system has evolved, so have the key elements and decision makers that determine how care delivery is structured and implemented, payment is effectuated, patients are served, and more. HCANYS believes that in order to effectively carry out our mission and represent the interests of those seeking, receiving, and delivering these services in New York State, we must do so comprehensively on behalf of the breadth and depth of the field.
The HCANYS membership comprises Certified Home Health Agencies (CHHAs), Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs), Hospices, Fiscal Intermediaries (FIs), Managed Long Term Care Plans (MLTCs), Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), Long Term Home Health Care Programs (LTHHCPs), and other organizations with vested interest in the delivery of healthcare and support services in homes across New York State.
