HCA Board Chair Jane Shukitis Sends Regards to Colleagues, Members as She Announces December Retirement

Situation Report | May 10, 2021

Recent HCA Board of Directors Chair Jane Shukitis delivered warm regards to the HCA membership during last week’s HCA Annual Conference Board Meeting announcing her upcoming December retirement as President and CEO of UR Medicine Home Care. Shukitis has led the agency for seven years.

While she remains on the HCA Board through the completion of her tenure, Shukitis also turned the Chairpersonship over to colleague Bridget Gallagher, Vice President at Americare, Inc., having completed her term. (See related story here.)

Shukitis earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Roberts Wesleyan College and her Master’s in Public Administration, Health Care Concentration, from SUNY Brockport. She brought more than 30 years of health care leadership experience with her when she joined UR Medicine Home Care as President and CEO in January 2015.

During her tenure, Shukitis led the operational redesign and financial turnaround efforts with the agency, strengthening the agency’s alignment with UR Medicine, creating new service lines, restructuring and rightsizing the organization, instituting process improvements, redesigning the clinical operations model, and more.

HCA congratulates Jake Shukitis on her upcoming retirement and greatly appreciates her stellar leadership on behalf of UR Medicine Home Care as well as the home care system statewide during her exceptional tenure as Board Chair. She led the HCA Board during many significant inflection points for HCA and for our field, not the least of which was the COVID-19 emergency — a monumentally challenging time like no other in recent history.
